Crispy Aloo Tikkis. They always remind me of Agra. During summers we used to go to our Nani’s place and there a thel wale bhaiya used to come at night, who sold garam garam crispy Aloo Tikkis, Dahi Bhallas and Gol Gappe. He had a small ghanti which he used to ring everytime he came. All the kids in the house used to run out and then stand near his thel, staring at the food and pleading our mom to give us money so we could buy some of those. Joys of a small city. Oh I miss those days sometimes, I really do.

Ingredients

5 boiled potatoes
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
1 teaspoon amchoor
salt to taste
1 green chilli finely chopped
1 tablespoon gram flour/besan
3 tablespoons rice flour
oil for frying

Steps In Making

1)Grate the boiled potatoes with the help of a grater. Now add red chilli flakes, amchoor powder, salt, green chillies, gram flour and rice flour. Mix till everything is well combined.

2)Make medium size tikkis, for that take some dough and roll them into a ball. Now gently press them with your palm and give it the shape of a tikki. Similarly make the rest of the tikkis.

3)In a pan add oil and bring it to medium hot, now add the tikkis one at a time and shallow fry them from each side for 3 minutes or until they get a nice golden colour on top.

4)Once done transfer them on a plate and serve hot with chutney or tomato ketchup.
